El Salvador food, wedding shopping, mini golfing, and Italian ice. Pretty much a spontaneous day! #sinceitwastoohotfordisney

My hair was well-behaved today but of course, you can’t tell in the picture😐 I haven’t taken/posted selfies in forever! #awkward

you do not need to constantly justify yourself. go ahead. eat pancakes. eat a ton at dinner. eat ice cream sundaes at 1am. take a rest day. take six rest days. sleep in. watch a movie. watch ten movies. no explanations needed. you’re allowed to be kind to yourself.
Anonymous asked: That is kind of sad, being pushed to hide things from your family. Just doesn't seem right. Family should be pulled closer together.
Yeah. My family is different from the typical American culture. We’re not the affectionate type or a family that talks to each other about life problems. Well… we do, but to an extent haha. I love my parents nonetheless but we’re not close in THAT way. My parents were brought up differently and they’re more focused on hard work, school, and respecting the elders. A lot of stuff we do are based on what our relatives will think/judge hah. “Saving face” is a term that relates to the Asian cultures.
I’ve been surrounded by the American culture my whole life so I definitely won’t be living the typical Asian life! Haha.
So I finally said the words “I’m part of the church now” to my mom last week.
If you haven’t been following my conversion story, I got baptized without telling my parents. This was almost 4 years ago.
And I finally told my parents last week and they took it well!
It kinda broke my heart though when my mom said, “When it comes to decisions like this, you should’ve talked to me first.” but she’s okay with it and I love her for that.
I honestly wish my parents were able to be there for my baptism but i always think back to what my bishop said whenever we would talk bout this - “You made the right choice because if you didn’t get baptized that night, you wouldn’t have received all the blessings Heavenly Father gave you since then.”
